Chengyu XIONG’s personal profile

 

Chengyu Xiong is a distinguished professor at Tsinghua University, and a fellow of European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Humanities (EASAL). The professional direction is interdisciplinary strategic research.

Professor Xiong Chengyu went to study at Brigham Young University in 1990, worked in Tsinghua University after receiving his doctor’s degree in 1994, and was awarded the title of professor in 1996. In 1998, he presided over the establishment of the Communication Department in Tsinghua. In 2002, he participated in the establishment of the School of Journalism and Communication, serving as the academic vice-president and long-term Chairman of the academic committee of the School.

 He is currently a member of the Academic Committee of Tsinghua University, and director of the National Cultural Industry Research Center. He is also a member of the National Committee of Experts on Strategic Emerging Industries, the National Committee of Experts on Internet Development and Management, and the Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He is also the consultant to the local governments in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Nanchang, and Jilin, Yunnan and Fujian provincial governments.

Professor Xiong has been engaged in theoretical and practical research in the field of digital creativity for a long time. Over the years, he has actively participated in bilateral or multilateral dialogues in the fields of culture and the Internet organized by the governments of China, Britain, China, France and the United States. He has made speeches at the UNESCO World Cultural Conference, the World Telecommunication Union Network Social Summit, the opening ceremony of the China-EU Cultural Year and other occasions. He has established a good cooperative relationship with the international academic community.

He completed the national research projects, keytechnology projects of China, major projects sponsored by the National Social Science Foundation, and national projects of soft sciences and more.
